Nneka Obiagwu is a wife and mother of two sons one of whom is diagnosed with PDDNOS- Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified - a classification on the Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is the founder and president of the Child Restoration Initiative (CRI) and also the creator of the first Nigerian social media page on autism awareness called Nigerians for Autism on Facebook. Almost a thousand members strong, the page is an open group page created to promote autism awareness and facilitate discourse about issues relating to autism spectrum disorders. She is also one of the founding members and trustee of Parents Against Autism initiative (PAAi), an umbrella coalition of parents united to spearhead advocacy for issues relating to autism in Nigeria. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a Master’s degree in International Conflict Analysis from University of Kent’s Brussels School of International Studies. Her formative years were spent at the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the ECOWAS Parliament, Abuja and Kiddy and Junior Classes in Brussels. She forewent a career in corporate Nigeria to focus on raising awareness on the need for early intervention services for children with autism spectrum disorders in Nigeria following her son’s regression and diagnosis. She continues to speak and write social commentaries on the subject and tirelessly canvasses to raise our national awareness on the plight of low income families struggling with children with special needs.
Nnamdi Obiagwu is currently the Executive Director/Action Managing Director COMACO Advisory Ltd a firm focused on aiding organizations to achieve their goals. Up until April 2014 he was senior Manager with Mobil Oil Nigeria plc (an ExxonMobil subsidiary) where he worked since 2001. A Mechanical Engineer by training from the Federal University of Technology Owerri with a career rich in travel, experience and responsibilities in segments including Telecoms, Lubricant Engineering, Business Development, Financial/Business Data Analysis, Distributorship Network Development, Supply Chain Management, Logistics coordination, investment advisory and organizational optimization. A father with two sons (one on the autism spectrum) he brings his personal experience and passion as well as a wealth contacts and professional experience to the board of CRI.
Adetoun Okunoren is a graduate of the University of Lagos. She worked as a consultant for MTN Nigeria for two and a half years. She was involved in a few entrepreneurial ventures such as Novell Consulting (a Training outfit which offers specialized classroom based training to the telecommunications sector) and Todds Services Corporate Gifts. Adetoun is currently the managing director of Nutri-Centre Limited. Nutri-Centre retails health foods particularly foods for people with gluten and dairy intolerances and/or certain ailments and conditions such as Autism, Celiac, hyperactivity, ADHD, diabetes and other conditions in children and adults alike. Adetoun is also a non-executive director of Clementina Center for children with special needs. She is married and blessed with three lovely kids, one of whom is totally recovered from autism.
DR. EMEKA ENEJERE
Dr. Emeka Enejere is a Political Scientist. He is a former university lecturer and had lectured at Nassau Community College Westbury, USA; York College, City University of New York, Jamaica Queens New York USA, he equally lectured at Adelphi University Garden City, USA and at The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. He is a seasoned statesman and has served in various capacities within the Country. He has served as Deputy Director, Political Education Department, Directorate of Social Mobilisation (MAMSER) of the Nigerian Presidency; he was also the Political Adviser of the political party National Republican Convention, (NRC) Nigeria; he was equally a Consultant/ Special Adviser to the Minister of Industries, Alhaji Bamangar Tukur, Federal Republic of Nigeria and also the Political Adviser of the political party Democratic Party of Nigeria (DPN), Nigeria. He is also the immediate past Pro – Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is currently Chairman and CEO of a group of five companies; he is a Knight of St Paul, Diocese of Nsukka, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion). He is married with 4 children and 7 grandchildren, one of whom is on the autism spectrum. He has a passion for education and children and brings his wealth of experience to the board in an advisory capacity.
